Frequently Asked Questions
Sex therapy is specialized talk therapy focused on sexuality, intimacy, relationships, desire, pleasure, sexual functioning, communication, identity, and shame.
It can help with concerns that feel difficult or painful, but therapy does not have to begin with a problem. It can also be a place to understand yourself more deeply, explore what you want, strengthen communication, and create a more satisfying intimate life.
No. Sex therapy does not involve sexual contact, nudity, sexual observation, or physical participation between the therapist and client.
It is talk therapy conducted within clear professional and ethical boundaries. Your therapist may offer education, communication tools, or activities to explore privately outside of sessions, but you are always in control of what feels comfortable and appropriate.
Yes. We work with individuals, couples, partners, polycules, and other relationship systems.
We use the term relationship therapy because not every meaningful relationship involves two people, marriage, or monogamy. The work is tailored to your relationship structure, goals, agreements, communication styles, and the kind of connection you want to create.

We support clients exploring kink, BDSM, power exchange, fantasy, polyamory, open relationships, relationship agreements, jealousy, compersion, consent, boundaries, communication, and other forms of consensual nonmonogamy.
These identities, interests, and relationship structures are not automatically treated as problems.

You should not have to educate your therapist before meaningful work can begin.
Yes. We help individuals and partners explore kink, toys, fantasy, pleasure, and new forms of intimacy with greater confidence and intention.
This may include understanding your interests, talking about desires, introducing toys into a relationship, establishing consent and boundaries, negotiating new experiences, or finding ways to make intimacy feel more playful and connected.
The goal is not to tell you what you should want. It is to help you understand what feels right for you and communicate it clearly.

Dr. Dolly maintains limited clinical availability while also leading DDM&A, writing, speaking, consulting, teaching, and creating educational content.
When Dr. Dolly is unavailable or another clinician may be a stronger fit, you may be matched with an associate whose expertise, approach, availability, and personality align with what you are looking for.
